Sustainable waste disposal in line with the circular economy

As a waste management company, we are aware of our special responsibility: hazardous and non-hazardous waste must be disposed of safely and utilised wherever possible. Our aim is not simply to dispose of materials, but to return them to the cycle and thus conserve resources. REMONDIS is constantly developing new solutions and technologies for this purpose which we are using in Italy.

Safe collection and recycling of empty and full aerosol cans

Aerosol cans contain hazardous substances and pose a considerable safety risk. They are safely broken down and separated into three material streams in a specially designed plant: propellants, liquids and metals. This means that all components can be disposed of and utilised in a controlled manner.

Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries and lithium batteries contain many other valuable raw materials such as nickel, cobalt and manganese, which can be recovered. We ensure that the rechargeable batteries are collected professionally and safely and taken to the appropriate recycling facilities.

Conservation of natural resources through thermal utilisation

We thermally treat hazardous waste that cannot be materially recycled. In the process, pollutants are rendered harmless and energy and substitute fuels are recovered at the same time. In this way, we actively contribute to climate protection and the conservation of natural resources.

Due to their material composition, residues of paints, varnishes, solvents or pesticides must be sent for thermal utilisation in hazardous waste incineration plants.

Thermal utilisation renders hazardous waste harmless. The resulting residues can replace fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas and coal.
